The new Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) will process up to 80 million passengers each year to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding Middle East capital, dominating a key position in the global race for fast growing luxury air travel and transfer points.
Spaceagency offered an array of services including site survey and audit of existing signage that failed to meet client's expectations and evolving requirements as the project, after many years in construction, approached completion. Following extensive liaison with all stakeholders, we developed a comprehensive wayfinding strategy and design proposals, culminating in a complete tender package inclusive of guidelines for maintenance and future works. Signage in all public areas was updated to facilitate orientation, provide confirmation of the passenger journey's stage and curate the user experience. Where appropriate, iconic gestures integrate branding with wayfinding.
The wayfinding system for the back of house areas allows staff to navigate with ease and enjoy their work environment, through the ample use of mnemonic, playful, biophilic supergrahics.
