Karla is a inter-disciplinary practitioner with over a decade’s worth of experience designing and building immersive environments that inhabit the theatre stage, editorial set and public space.
Her initial background was in Scenography, after having studied at Central Saint Martins primarily creating set for Theatre before moving onto Art Installations and graduating to work on an Architectural scale.
Her extensive portfolio experiments across the fields of design, architecture and science, showcasing transformative environments that question the boundaries of traditional architecture and help to reimagine life in the city through a lens of sustainability, ecological consciousness and human wellbeing.
Being exposed to an eclectic assortment of disciplines has helped her to cultivate an open approach to design. She is enthusiastic about learning and is boundless in her pursuit for creative exploration.
Her practice is equally defined by Design as it is Fabrication, which have provided her with rich theoretical and practical insight. This has also helped her to develop a diverse skill set that allows her to work effectively across disciplines and across specialist boundaries with experience ranging from Experiential Design to Art Direction.
Karla has worked on various high profile projects that have been exhibited at The V&A, The Design Museum and The Royal Academy. Her portfolio of clients also includes Nike, Lexus, The Burj Al-Arab and Her Late Majesty The Queen to name a few.
