We took inspiration from the projects unique characteristics and location - Nivy meaning wetlands - in a formerly wetland area just outside the city core of Bratislava.
The interplay of natural and man made, city and wetlands, became the principal design design driver for the internal wayfinding elements.
Starting from the ground and below ground areas as the infrastructure and roots of the city, to the roof which is designed to be a public, open, green park we developed a gradual transition between exposed concrete and timber as representative of inherently natural and urban materials.
This juxtaposition changes from level to level, with concrete being the dominant material on the lower levels and timber taken over on the upper levels and the roof.
