Spaceagency was commissioned to develop wayfinding and signage guidelines to be used in current and future hotel operated by YOTEL. The aim was to enhance brand identity and optimise user experience through standardised and consistent wayfinding and signage.
Following extensive liaison with the client, alignment with the YOTEL brand guidelines and architectural design concept and being cognizant of current industry recognised best practice in wayfinding design and future design trends, we compiled a comprehensive set of guidelines focusing on the graphic design, product design, general arrangement of locations and placement of signage.
Appropriate wayfinding ensures that the guests and visitors can move quickly and efficiently, using clearly defined routes, to their required destination; that they are enabled to move effectively towards and within the hotels with a minimum of stress. Effective signage caters to users of all groups and abilities and ensures legibility of text and symbols.
Our contribution culminated in signage product design prototypes, optimised for constructability and best value. In conjunction with the guidelines, all signage should be highly integrated, aligned with project-specific conditions and allow future designers to address various additional signage requirements.
